Exacerbation - do you know when you're getting it?

I have that feeling... when my teeth/gums start aching, my left leg feels like it's carrying a cement block and am fatigued (having done nothing today).  I remember for many years I would go to the dentist complaining of terrible pain in my gums at the back of my mouth where my wisdom teeth should have been and they could never find any problems.  Same when I used to get the tingling on the left side of my face, I was constantly told it was Bell's Palsy.  Amazing, now that I've been diagnosed with MS, every illness falls into that category.  I am guessing 20 years ago MS was not as prominent as it is nowadays.  Got off topic sorry, but anyway, does anyone get that "feeling" before getting a flare up?  I'm hoping not, but if today is anything to go by, I am doomed.

  1. After years spent with this disease, my exacerbations are now endless. I don't have peaks and valleys with good days and bad days. My body has pretty much settled into a long run of uselessness. I used to get a flare every summer with the heat bringing it on. My legs would turn to rubber and like you I knew I was doomed for a period of days. I hope your "feeling" is wrong and that today turns out to be a good one.

  2. i wish i could tell you.... i have had only 1 "official" flare... although i think there have been more... but in the past 6 months i've more had a worsening or lessening of symptoms currently housed in my body... some days they are tolerable, other days i have to work around them more...

i have the tooth, gums, jaw ache stuff going on too... i notice that when i have muscle spasms in my legs or the hug thing, my mouth acts up...grinding from spasms i'm sure....

i hope your day is a good one... i hope we all have more good days than bad...

  3. I love responses from people who have the same issues... it makes me feel "I'm not the only one" Thank you for responding with your comments. Actually, today is a little better, the mouth pain is only on the left side and I have done a little housework too.... although now I need a nap. :)

  4. Oops, my comment didn't post.

I was just going to tell you that I too seem to have a little barometer of when relapses may occur. It is an extra fuzzy face and a left arm full of lead.

However, my recently I've noticed that these symptoms seem to get worse when I've overdone it. They don't always indicate a new relapse is coming on.

Gets confusing when MS changes the game. I hope that you continue to feel better. Try not to overdo it and please be well.

  5. Thank you Lisa, it seems that my tooth/mouth pain is getting worse as the day wears on but if that's all I get, I can live with it. Thank you for your kind words
